The Colosseum, Rome

Great work of architecture and engineering, Roman Colosseum was built between 70-80 under Vespasian and Titus Emperor. Designed with a capacity of 50 000 spectators, the building was used as arena shows, contests between gladiators, executions or enactment of famous battles.

It is now a major tourist attraction of Rome and also emblematic of the Italian capital. Over time, the Colosseum has suffered damage because of earthquakes or vandals who stole the stone. Even so, the building is testimony to the impressive technology of Roman Empire at the is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the city.
