The Colosseum, Rome
Great work of architecture and engineering, Roman Colosseum was built between 70-80 under Vespasian and Titus Emperor. Designed with a capacity of 50 000 spectators, the building was used as arena shows, contests between gladiators, executions or enactment of famous battles.
It is now a major tourist attraction of Rome and also emblematic of the Italian capital. Over time, the Colosseum has suffered damage because of earthquakes or vandals who stole the stone.
